Kid puking in WalMart = NO FUN!!

nasty details to follow: Yes, exactly what the title says...Yesterday my toddler puked right at the walmart checkout. He'd eaten a RED fruit roll-up shortly before. So, a nice giant puddle of red puke. All over him. All over me. All filled up in my flip flops. NASTY! So, the nice check out girl hands me A (as in ONE) paper towel. HA! I wanted to say..."seriously, lady? You must not have children". I was with my mom, thankfully, so she politely said, "I think you should call someone with a mop" and I scurried off the the bathroom with my still retching child. I stripped him down, tried to rinse him off. Thankfully my mom was wearing layers, so I was able to ditch my puke soaked shirt and wear her sweatshirt home.

He also puked in the van and the bathtub that day. Mommyhood is SO very glamorous some days! (Any tips for getting rid of that nasty smell from the carseat? I washed the cover, but it still stinks!)

I feel like my kids have had the pukies like once a month or so for the past 6 months. I'm seriously ready for the flu/sickness season to end!

So sorry to hear about your little man. I've had to clean vomit out of our carseat twice. Once, was pumpkin muffin vomit... let me tell you, I couldn't eat anything pumpkin for a couple years! And more recently, milk vomit. Yum! Always a pleasant smell. Anyway, because my cover does not come off the carseat, washing is pretty tricky. This last time I threw it in the tub, got out my laundry detergent and scrubbed away followed by a good soak and another scrubbing and thorough rinsing. This seemed to do the trick and the carseat smells great and looks brand new. Okay, maybe not brand new, but better than it has in years. Oh yeah and by the way... glad to have you home!

So sorry! I have lots of empathy...not just sympathy. I think chunks of burgers and fries beats both of you though. Mine were all in carseats where the cover comes off (which is still tricky and Anna still says she can smell it.....ahhh my little nose.) So I'd go with what Meredith said.

Sounds like fun. You will laugh later -- really. You may not eat later but laugh -- yes. Or you will block out the toddler years. Either way.
I would go with Meredith or get yourself a power washer and some super soap. Seriously. It will take a while to dry however.

haha! Dude, I love how every time I think about having kids you post a blog post that makes me think "ummm...I think I'll wait on that." ;o)
Sorry I couldn't call you last Friday! Dahlia was having a "difficult" day and I couldn't find a time to call between tantrums. But of course, you know how it is.

Oh that stinks (literally!!)

I would sprinkle the car seat cover with some baking soda and let it sit over night to absorb the odor and then rewash it. Baking soda is really good at getting odor out.

And Val is right you will soon have this all blocked out.

And as they get older they learn to give a little more advanced notice on the vomiting. We have started paying our kids in cold hard cash if they make it to the toilet to throw up. :-) It works, they almost always make it to the toilet......something to keep in mind!

Hope your week gets better.

Oh my goodness! Crazy day! Nothing like those toddler years! Jake used to puke all the time! One day he some how dumped mustard (from his pretzel at the mall) on me, then latter puked on me and to end the day he managed to even poop on me! Lovely days! They do get better!
Good luck with the smell. We always loved fabreze to.

Eryn - I would try Oxy clean - put the cover on Soak Cycle in your washer overnight with a full scoop of oxyclean and hot water - rinse in the morning and wash with normal detergent - or if you have Arm and Hammer I would use that kind - it works great on odors. I'm so glad your mom was with you - that might have been more of a nightmare if you were all by yourself - Wal-mart is always the place where I completely lose my patience and want to freak out at the cashier for some reason or another - hope he is feeling better!
