Time Warp

Have you ever noticed how there is a time warp between your house and the car? You look at the clock, it's 8:30am. Perfect! You need to be on the road by 8:45, and you're doing great. You gather the kids and load up and pull out of the driveway, happy with yourself for being on time, for once. You glance at the clock on your dashboard as you head down the road...WHAT?!? How is it possibly 9:05? It was JUST 8:30! There is some kind of black hole time warp in my garage, I think.

Lee Ann, I know your house does not have this time warp phenomenon...unless maybe, it goes the other way. You leave your house at 8:30 and you magically time warp to 8:15am when you pull out your driveway. :)

Oh, NO! My house does have the time warp! It drives me crazy. I have just learned that it doesn't take 3 minutes to put shoes and coats on and kids buckled up like I think it should. Seriously! Why should it take longer than that? My time warp is about 15 minutes though, not 30 so I just know it takes 15 minutes to get in the car when it really should only take 3. You see, I have a warp, just a calculated warp. Isn't that just like me?

This time warp completely exists at our house as well! I so often think my clocks must be to blame and that the house ones are slow and the car one is fast! I keep checking and rechecking them and apparently they are the same some how! We were warned about this "warp" while we were still "pre-kid" and didn't believe it really could be true. I, at least in theory, try to give an extra 20 min. to when I really think we need to leave...it's ridiculous!

We have a time warp too.. but it is picky. Some days it attacks me and there are others that I wonder how I got out the door so fast. Blast you time warp... and your unpredictableness.

Very cool picture to show the idea of time warp - I think you hit the nail on the head and I think we all have that - what we think it takes to get out the door and what reality is are never quite the same--- oh and I think the computer is to blame for my time warp - e-mail addiction has caused me to lose more then a few minutes on many occasions - yikes!

I definitely live in a time warp.
i have no possible ability to make it to my bible study on time. even when i think i am on time...i am so off. this happens all the time. i lose 10 minutes suddenly while trying to get the kids to school?
i'm so glad i am not the only one.

I love this! For the first 11 years of my marriage and infertility, I just didn't get it when it came to people always being 15-30 minutes late. I often told friends that my dinner party or event was 30 minutues earlier so they would get to my place on time. Two babies and a teen later, I get it! Now when getting ready, I am constantly saying, "Time warp, time warp, time warp, time warp and yelling--ten minutes, 5 minutes, 3 minutes, grab your shoes and socks and put them on in the car." My kids, "But MOM,it's raining outside." Well grab a towel too!
