MEME

I got tagged. So I have to do this thing called MEME
1. I have to post these rules before I give you the facts.
2. Each player starts with eight random facts/stories about themselves.
3. People who are tagged need to write their own blog (about their eight things) and post these rules.
4. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
5. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog

#1 I LOVE, I mean LOVE...Little House on the Prairie. When I was a little girl I had short hair, so I'd put a blanket on my head with 2 rubber bands trying to make it look like Laura Ingalls braids. When I was preggers with Hayden and so sick everymorning, I'd lay on the couch and watch 2 back to back episodes every morning. I love it!

#2 My latest day dream is to own my own little baby/toddler boutique with a big focus on cloth diapering. It is seriously so easy, and saves so much money and garbage in the landfill. I want to call it"Sweet Cheeks" (get it...diapers, and those sweet little baby buns...cheeks). I love baby parafanalia...diaper bags, bibs, shoes...love it all. And I want to offer free classes about cloth diapering to those who have any interest.

#3 Matt (my hubby) and I met in 2nd Grade. We didn't fall in love then...it was about 13 years later that we began dating, and we've been in love ever since!

#4 I'm about the least anal person ever, except when it comes to making a bed. (and in my house, we don't necessarily make beds every day and that's ok, but when it's done, it has to be done right!) My mom taught me how to tuck the corners of the sheets in just so...and that's the way I like it.

#5 I visited a lepor colony in Nepal in 2001 and it changed me forever. I'll never underestimate the power of a loving hug or hand holding again. These people rarely get physical touch in a loving affectionate way and they just soaked it up! It was so fun to watch thier eyes light up when they realize you WANT to hold their hand and love on them. AMAZING! (Part of the reason I loved it so much is that Physical Touch is totally one of my "love languages")

#6 hmmm. I'm sort of ashamed to admit how much I enjoy America's Next Top Model. I'm completely fascinated by it...even episondes that I've seen before...love it. It's a guily pleasure of mine...in September the new season starts!

#7 Trish's honesty inpired me on the whole "deep friendship" thing. In these past few years some of my dearest frienships have changed...not because of anything bad. I still love them all dearly and hold deep affection for them, but time, kids, the pace of life has changed our relationships. Our conversations are fewer and farther between, so they are catching up on eachothers life, instead of deep and significant. I too, am longing for deep friendships that know the deep parts of my heart and challenge me to live in a way that reflects my Jesus.

#8 I really want to travel more. Matt and I went to Mexico, Nepal, Thailand, Italy, Canada (like that counts) in our early years of marriage. I really want to see more of Europe, Africa and South America...ooh and China.

There it is. I'm tagging Beth and Dawnette...my only pals who aren't already tagged.

Wish List

I'm starting a wish list. My birthday is coming up in October, and you know people always ask what you want for your special day, but you can't think of anything on the spot. So, as i think of things, I'm adding them to my list! If nothing else, so I can go back and remember when I'm asked.

You say To-may-to, I say To-mah-to

Well...10 hours, 135 lbs of tomatoes, about 4 dozen jars later...I'm finally done with my Tomato canning! It was a great day. My mom taught me how to do the tomatoes...it was sort of a "rite of passage" her teaching me what her mom taught her...I Loved it! Tomatoes were a ton easier than peaches...Here's my day in pictures!

Went to the Zoo

We took a trip to the Oregon Zoo on Thursday with Allison and the Morris girls. I hadn't been in a long time, man that place has upgraded a bit! Anyway, saw the monkeys getting freaky (seriously...kids were saying "what is that big monkey doing to the little monkey?", saw the elephants...some goats, zebras, you know the drill.

All was fun and games until Hayden took a nose dive in "Africa" and it started raining. But it was all in all a fun day. Here's some pics.

Rosemary's Racers

Race for the Cure, Here we come! I mentioned a few posts ago, that I was contemplating doing the Race for the Cure 5K walk. Within 24 hours, I found out that a friend and someone who I look up to and respect a ton, has just been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. So, I'm taking the plunge! I've formed a team for the race, Rosemary's Racers, in honor of Rosemary Galanter. I figure it's a great way to show love and support to her and her fam as they embark on this journey. For those of you who read this and know Rose, please join me! I need 10 people to make a "team" by August 31...Show the love for the Galanters, you know you want to! Click HERE to join the team!

Shannon inspired me

I was inspired by Shannon's cute tin can project. I had to wrap up a birthday giftcard for a friend today, and I thought...hey, I should use a can. But, I didn't have the right kind of can opener...so I stole the little tin from my hubby's bbq rub. It was made of plastic so the smell of "sweet mesquite" may have lingered a bit...oh well.

Here it is!

Race

I'm contemplating doing the Race for the Cure 5k walk in September. I think it would be fun! Kids can participate too (under 6 are free)...I'm thinking about setting up a team (you need 10 or more to have a team) I think would be more fun...Check it out!

night owl

For some reason, I'm a night owl tonight. I'll regret it at 6am when jack wakes up!

My latest obsession is canning...Delores got me started on pickles, then I dragged my kids out to the wildlife refuge in Ridgefield to pick blackberries (legal?). Made jam. Went to my aunt's and picked blueberries, made blueberry/blackberry syrup. Got a box of peaches...a LOT of work...but, I think they turned out. Friday, mom and I are doing tomatoes. The BEST part is, I posted a want ad on craigslist for that I wanted free jars...and I got a bunch! Here's my peaches, aren't they pretty?

And here's a few pics of my kiddos yesterday..

Praying means...(courtesy of Hayden)

Here's a funny from my day today.

I was in the car with my mom. We were talking about praying. My mom says to Hayden, "What does it mean, to pray?" He says, "It means we're gonna eat dinner!"

Ahh...kids. Today Hayden came down with the flu...can you say yuck? I hate it when my kids puke...in the car.(My new car, may I add?Not that it's super cool, it is a minivan, but still...)

Here I am!

Well, here I am, sucked into "blogging". I hope to keep it up!
